Valentines day
the budget hotel in athens
People often feel the need to escape for a while from the earth reality and travel through the melody in the universe and ask the sky (!) do we exist, when the end of the so called humanity, why between races and people does not exist respect, why so hate and not love, why conflicts and not cooperation..
From these questions and on the occasion of February 14 we chose love as a theme and invited Dimitris Zervas to play music and the lady Anna to analyze it thoughtfully as you will see below. See video here. See photo album here.
"Love is a powerful brand that bends our WORLD towards GOODNESS"
In building and nurturing relationships there will always be a need to practice enhanced communication skills and to address the balance between work and all other aspects of life.
It can be said that the ancient Greeks where quite sophisticated in the way they spoke about love.
Where as in the earlier cultures of the Babylonians and Sumerians, love was not a prime issue. marriage was a business or financial arrangement between families.
Ancient Greek customs recognized at least six varieties of love rather than our current ideas of romantic love, which often leaves to the unfulfilled eternal search for the evasive soul mate.
The Greek of earlier times saw the love as in the first element of:
- EROS - named after the God of fertility and sometimes fleeting and fiery aspect of love.
- Secondly came FILIA or deep friendship, valued more in ancient times than the sexuality of EROS.
- FILIA - between comrades, brothers in arms, fighting on the battle fields. A sense of loyalty, sharing and sacrifice. Sometimes forgotten in the age of trying to mass anonymous followers or friends on Face book or twitter.
- Thirdly LUDUS. The playful love referring to the affection between parents children and young lovers.
- AGAPE - the fourth element describes a love of everyone and could be noted as the basis for a more stable society. The Latin word CARITAS was translated into the word CHARITY.
- The fifth element was PRAGMA or a mature love and understanding that develops between married couples. A change from "FALLING IN LOVE" to standing firmly and strongly with acceptance and compromise.
- The final form was PHILAFTIA or love and respect for self. Not a narcissistic form of SELF OBSESSION hoping for fame and fortune, but rather as ARISTOTLE states, friendly feelings for others. It can be seen as an extension and an expression of the persons feeling of goodwill not only for self but shared with others.
All aspects of the intricacies of man s nature a wider capacity to give and receive love.
May all your days be Valentines day in gratitude and compassion for others.
To night we experience love expressed through music. Sounds that by - pass words, but directly are felt as pure emotion with out the filter of language.
Love is portrayed in all aspects of culture by the Rhythm of movement, music, art, paintings and sculptures and literature.
